Western Australia leads the way in the global transformation of energy

The Australian Microgrid Centre of Excellence (AMCOE) is a not-for-profit organization that operates an education and showcase facility providing resources towards the development and implementation of reliable, economic and sustainable energy solutions. It acts as a centre of activity and coordination for the many organizations (public, private, commercial, non-profit, and academic) in Australia, and headquartered in Perth, that are addressing distributed or remote energy issues across the Indo-Pacific region.

AMCOE is the first of several regional smart energy centres to be proposed by government and industry that help create the technologies, jobs and skilled workforce that will renew this nation’s economy around a clean, reliable and emission-free energy future.

Announcing the First Southern Hemisphere
Microgrid Conference
March 2026
Perth, Western Australia

The Centre, in partnership with Business Events Perth and ATL Events, is hosting a conference, titled: Microgrid Connect 2026 Summit. This inaugural event will take place in Perth, Australia from 18-20 March, 2026. If you have interest in attending/speaking, please contact info@australianmicrogrids.com.
Microgrid Connect 2026 will dive deep into how microgrids are actively replacing fossil fuels with renewables, fast-tracking the shift to a greener economy. Delve into their vital role in empowering off-grid and remote communities, from islands to regional hubs, with reliable, localised energy. Crucially, we’ll highlight how microgrids deliver unparalleled reliability and resilience, safeguarding against outages in an increasingly unpredictable world.
Our core themes for 2026 are:

  • Decarbonisation through Microgrids: Emphasizing the replacement of fossil fuels with renewable energy sources.
  • Decentralisation: Focusing on off-grid and rural/remote applications, including island communities and underserved areas.
  • Energy security: An overarching theme incorporating the reliability and resilience aspects of microgrids.

You can find more information about the conference at Microgrid Connect.
